Yayasan Pahang Spent RM1.1 Billion For Education, Benefits 1.3 Million Students Since 1983

KUANTAN, May 15 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Pahang (YP) has spent RM1.1 billion for education since it was set up in 1983, benefiting more than 1.3 million Pahang youths.

Its General Manager Datuk Mahmud Mohd Nawawi said this year alone, the foundation had allocated RM83 million for its Education Development and Aid Programme.

"YP's budget has also increased to RM124 million in 2017 compared to only RM1.5 million when it was first set up.

"To continue the Yayasan Pahang's economic transformation, YP has expanded its activities to generate income from logging to palm oil plantations," he said.

Mahmud was speaking at the Pahang Educational Excellence Ceremony 2017 Menteri Besar Award which was presented by Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob at the YP Complex here today.

At the event, 213 students who attained excellent results in government examinations in Pahang received cash and certificates of appreciation, comprising 104 for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and 20 for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
