IPOH, July 7 (Bernama) -- The Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) will organise the three-day Young Innovator Challenges 2017 beginning July 14, at the E-Learning Building, UPSI, in Tanjung Malim, about 120 kilometres from here.

UPSI's dean of Faculty of Science and Mathematics Associate Prof Dr Zulkifley Mohamed said the programme organised by the faculty, with the cooperation of Perak state government and Dream Catcher Sdn Bhd (Chumbaka), aimed to develop the innovative human capital in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), in line with the national education policy.

"The programme will inculcate the practice of problem solving through science and technology, as well as to promote the lifelong learning and to develop creative, innovative and imaginative thinking among teachers and students," he said in a statement today.

The programme, which received national level support from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Sime Darby Bhd, will also nurture the younger generation's interest to pursue their studies in STEM fields at the secondary and tertiary level.

Themed 'In Conjunction With Perak Expo For Young Scientists', the programme provides opportunity for UPSI students to gain experience as mentors and to contribute their knowledge to the school students.
