To do well in any subject you must be able to think correctly! Thinking skills are something you can learn and develop. Ask yourself questions as you read your textbooks and notes. Talk to other students whom you notice have good thinking skills. You can also sharpen your thinking skills by taking IQ tests available in books or the Internet, or playing games that require thinking such as word games.

PETALING JAYA, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The Government strongly encourages the initiative to create an education portal in line with the Education Ministry's syllabus to help provide world-class quality education, said Director-General of Education Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof.

He said the effort would indirectly give students and teachers an opportunity to choose the appropriate learning process.

"Apart from reference books or school textbooks, students and teachers can also access additional reference materials and practice exercises to answer past exam questions to enhance their knowledge on an ongoing basis,"he said.

He was speaking to reporters after representing Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid at the opening ceremony of the Free Education Portal at Brickfields Asia College (BAC), here today.

The portal was developed by BAC through its corporate social responsibility initiative and provides learning reference materials as well as a collection of previous year's exam questions for free.

BAC Managing Director Raja Singham said with the support from the Ministry of Education, the company was proud to offer the portal as a gift to students and teachers since it is a non-profit multilingual learning portal.

"The online learning platform aims to be the largest free primary and secondary school resource and specially brought for them who are sitting for all Malaysian public exams, and it can be accessed starting today.

"The model is also built for scalability, with the potential to reach beyond our borders to other countries within the ASEAN region. The portal currently offers a specialised site for SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) students and will gradually roll out additional site updates for PT3 and UPSR as well,"he said.

"The site is equipped with free e-Books (for additional Mathematics, Modern Mathematics, Science, Biology, Chemistry and History), practical exercises and webinar for all core SPM subjects as well as a comprehensive library of over 700 learning videos in Bahasa Melayu and English,"he said.

He added that the portal will also have Mandarin and Tamil in the future.
