To do well in any subject you must be able to think correctly! Thinking skills are something you can learn and develop. Ask yourself questions as you read your textbooks and notes. Talk to other students whom you notice have good thinking skills. You can also sharpen your thinking skills by taking IQ tests available in books or the Internet, or playing games that require thinking such as word games.

KANGAR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is sponsoring four students from two schools in Perlis to take part in the Fourth International Young Inventors Award (IYIA 2017) in Jakarta, Indonesia next week.

UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said the sponsorship of US$500 (RM2,103) was an ongoing initiative by the university to support research works by primary and secondary school students.

This is in line with the advice by the government for universities to focus on translational research. The students' research should be focused from the early stage since it can improve the well-being of the society, he told reporters after the sponsorship handing over ceremony here today.

The IYIA 2017, to be held from Sept 22 to 24, is organised by the Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA) in collaboration with the International Federation of Inventors' Association (IFIA) and World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA).

Muhamad Idham Yustialmy of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Arau will contest for his product, dubbed 'Fast Response Robbery Report' (Fast3R).

The three others, namely siblings Najihah Humairah, Najidah Humairah and Najmuilmi Hakim Mohd Najmuddin will compete for their inventions called 'A Novel Mint & Marigold Ant Repellent' (MM-ARI Shooh!) and 'Vegi Compost Bucket'.
