Malaysia IPTA/S Research Development Second Top In The World

KUALA NERUS, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia continues to create another history in education when research outputs of the public and private institutions of higher learning (IPTA/S) were placed second in the research output of the Top One Percent Researchers In The World by Clarivate Analytics.

The recognition was the outcome of high index research released by the international database Web of Science(WoS) from Clarivate Analytics and Scopus from Elsevier.

Both agencies are the independent bodies conducting the major indexing to the high-impact academic research worldwide.

Malaysia was given the recognition after recorded the highest IPTA/S' research development of 7.2 per cent compared to the world average set of 1.1 per cent.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the recognition symbolised the excellent research outcomes by the researchers and academicians in IPTA/S nationwide.

"Congratulations to them (researchers and academicians). Our country is in the forefront in research such as in the field of Islamic finance, engineering, environment and energy," he told reporters after launching the Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning (Pecipta) 2017, here today.
