16 Public Varsities To Participate In International Museum Day Celebration At UPSI

IPOH, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Sixteen public universities will participate in the International Museum Day celebration scheduled to be held at the Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah campus of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim on Nov 18.

UPSI National Education Museum director Safna Asaruddin said among the universities to be involved in the two-day celebration were Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia.

She said the celebration, themed \"Museums and Contested Histories: Saying the Unspeakable in Museums? was being organised by the Committee of Museums and Galleries for Malaysian Public Universities (MYMuse) to promote the role of museums at public universities as a source of informal education.

"Among the highlights throughout the celebration are a forum, historical building drawing competition, traditional singing contest, traditional games competition and demonstration on conservation work. Other activities include free health examination, antique car exhibition and food trucks," she said in a statement here today.

Perak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Communication and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi is expected to officiate the celebration.
