433 Tahfiz Schools Restored Nationwide

ALOR SETAR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The wiring system at 433 out of 527 tahfiz schools nationwide have been restored and maintained through the Repair and Maintenance of the Wiring System of Tahfiz School project since November last year.

GiatMara chief executive officer Jamal Nasir Othman said the schools, which were not registered with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), received an allocation of between RM10,000 and RM30,000 from the government for the purpose.

"So far we have visited 669 tahfiz schools which are not registered with JAKIM and of that number, we have evaluated the cost of 527 tahfiz schools but only 433 of them have been successfully restored and the remaining will be completed until the end of this year," he said after at the programme at Maahad Tahfiz Darul Ulul Al-Hilmiah, Kepala Batas here today.

Present were state Information, Rural Development and Poverty Eradication Committee chairman, Datuk Mohd Tajudin Abdullah and state Religious Affairs,Tourism and Heritage and Public Works Committee chairman, Datuk Mohd Rawi Abdul Hamid.

Jamal Nasir said a total of 154 groups were tasked with the maintenance works such as re-wiring, replacing ceiling and wall fans in complying with the requirements and conditions set by the Fire and Rescue Departmentand the Public Works Department.

Meanwhile, in Kedah, Mohd Tajuddin said 27 out of 60 tahfiz schools had been restored through the project with an allocation of RM3.08 million.
