KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- In its effort to instil values-based leadership among secondary school students, the Students' Representative Council of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) will hold the 'Tawau Young Leadership Challenge 2018' (TYLC'18) this weekend.

UPSI vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran said TYLC'18, to be held from Jan 27 to 28 in Tawau, Sabah would focus on the basics in young leadership through the planned activities that would be interactive and outside the realm of formal learning.

"The activities at TYLC'18 require the participants to actively interact physically and mentally, to respond to given situations and to act in completing the activities conducted.

"In the programme, the participants will be assisted by the selected facilitators comprising UPSI undergraduates and a number of officers from the university," he said in a statement, here, today.

The programme, organised in collaboration with the office of the Tawau Member of Parliament, will be opened by Higher Education Deputy Minister, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching, at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tawau, Sabah.
