KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Bernama) -- The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) today handed over a donation of teaching tools to five selected schools in Setiu, Terengganu through its social responsibility (SR) programme.

The five schools are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Penarek, SMK Langkap, SMK Sungai Tong, SMK Putera Jaya and SMK Guntong.

IRB deputy chief executive officer (Policy), Datuk Noor Azian Abdul Hamid said the donation was to help the schools provide better facilities to improve the students' academic performance.

"The IRB's SR programme today is proof that IRB is committed to this effort and never fails to share the tax benefits with the community, as well as to raising public awareness about taxation through the distribution of tax brochures and our counter services," he said in his speech.

For the record, to date the IRB has implemented five social responsibility programmes including the Tanjung Lipat beach cleaning programme in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and giving of spectacles to 150 underprivileged students in Bachok and Tumpat, Kelantan and teaching aid to 32 schools in Jerlun, Kedah and to SMK Cochrane Perkasa, Kuala Lumpur.
