To do well in any subject you must be able to think correctly! Thinking skills are something you can learn and develop. Ask yourself questions as you read your textbooks and notes. Talk to other students whom you notice have good thinking skills. You can also sharpen your thinking skills by taking IQ tests available in books or the Internet, or playing games that require thinking such as word games.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) -- Tan Yiew Yew is all excited about contributing his skills and time for community service.

The 20-year-old Universiti Malaya (UM) first-year electrical engineering student is among 10 who received GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Programme scholarships of US$2,000 (RM6,600) annually, for the next three years.

"Through community service, I will be able to love, care and learn to be concerned about others. If we are able to help others, we are very fortunate," said Tan.

Apart from him, seven other first-year UM students and two from Universiti Sains Malaysia received the awards -- given since 2007 -- from GE Asean president Stuart Dean here Wednesday.

The awards are administered by the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE).
